Mobile Application: VeriSource

Background

VeriSourceTM is integrated OQ, Drug and Alcohol, Safety, and COI Tracking software that enables one-stop management of critical compliance programs driven by regulatory and client-specific requirements.

The purpose of this project was to provide a way for Operators and Contractors to access the VeriSource application on mobile services.

Primary Challenge

This project focused on mastery of the smaller details within a mobile-first experience such as input types, touch-friendly interactions and the user’s accessibility to content.

To deliver a truly mobile-first solution, I had to consider everything from touch-friendly form inputs to an intuitive organization of the content itself.

I also had to keep in mind the context of this application. The users would need simple controls because they would more often than not, be using the application in dangerous areas.

VeriSource Mobile Application

I designed the mobile app's content structure to allow users access to anything within just two taps. This structure of content hierarchy ensured nothing would be buried too deeply within the navigation and allowed for easy, quick accessibility to the content.

This was accomplished through heavy information architecture and wireframing at the outset fo the project. The organization and access to the content was key to this project's success.

Solution

After establishing a successful hierarchy through wireframing, I moved to the visual design of the user interface. The design itself was influenced heavily by the constraints of mobile. Large touch points, touch-friendly user input fields and an intuitive navigational system were my top priorities.

I created low fidelity wireframes, created a clickable prototype and passed the designs to the Development team.

The mobile application was still very much in the prototype phase and lacked final branding. We were focused on basic functionality for most of the project.

Outcome

This project was unfortunately cancelled when the main desktop application was replaced with a responsive framework.

Below you'll find a few shots of the mobile application's user interface.
